I've been looking forward to this weekend for a while. On Sunday I went to a WWE house show in Knoxville and on Monday to see Raw in Nashville. Brandon Stroud does the best review in the freaking world of Raw every week so...I leave that to him. Here are my observations:
1. This was my younger sister's first wrestling show she's ever attended and said she had "way more fun than she expected" and was amazed at how not redneck backcountry meth-head hillbilly trash we all were. She marked for Daniel Bryan and bought a Dolph Ziggler shirt. She also asked me about ROH a few months back. She's been watching pro wrestling for about a year. That's my sis.
2. I had seats behind a kid I immediately thought was going to hate me for cheering his villains/being the sort of wrestling fan I am. Not true. He told me Matt Hardy was his favorite wrestler, knew about ECW, was the second loudest in our section for Punk (cause...me), knew Striker was a heel when he wrestled (and knew the term), and had a "I'M THE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS!" shouting match with me because that's my lil homie. Pretty redeeming as I'm sure the Knoxville kid wearing all Cena everything I sat beside on Sunday probably thinks I cheer for breast cancer.
3. Getting a "Daniel Br-yan" chant going in my solidly John Cena section in Knoxville was a major personal achievement that made my heart grow three sizes that day.
4. CM Punk's pipebomb on AJ that "a skipping GM would never get over" was a great start to a house show. And calling us hillbillies was a nice touch.
5. Well done on Cena's part in working to get Ryback the extra pop he needs to be a main-eventer. He needs the rest and he really did his damn job putting the hungry hungry hippo over.
6. Beth Phoenix is obviously on her last days of contract. Gave Kaitlyn a great dark match. Those chanting "This is Awesome" during the Eve vs Layla match because it lasted more than a commercial break should all stand up and applaud Sara Del Ray for what's about to come of that division.
7. What happened to that Vince vs Paul match? I was pretty ecstatic for that. Though I do feel I got to see something special in seeing the Chairman in person. Especially if he's not attending every Raw now as has been uttered.
8. Is Mysterio hurt? Brodus teamed with Sin Cara on Sunday and Monday's tag tournament final they were carded to be in never happened. Great to see Rhodes Scholar (sic) two nights in a row and Damien was getting great pockets of pop in Nashville.
9. The merch wagon does not have nearly the amount of items the website does. I thought being a travelling show they'd have most of it with them. Ya know, carnies and such. Nope. And I really wanted that "Hugging is All the Rage" tee.
