In Defense of Ending the Streak

I was just like everyone else.  Moments before the streak ended I had just run down a five minute plus explanation of why Brock Lesnar would not win this match, how the beauty of this match would not be the conclusion but the journey, and why, if it even ever happened, breaking the streak would be the ultimate rub given to a bonafide star of the next generation.  And I wasn't alone.

For several days now in the midst of processing Daniel Bryan as the indie darling turned champ, the post Mania Raw, and now the passing of the Ultimate Warrior it's been hard to wrap my mind around why this happened.  Why now, why so unceremoniously, and why to Brock Lesnar?  And then it finally hit me.

RIP Ultimate Warrior

For every growl and shaken rope we owe a lot to this man...

Jake "The Snake" Roberts vs Dean Ambrose Fantasy Booking

What I like most about this is the continuity that it shows across generations and what could have been had both these guys been wrestling in the same promotion during their prime (Ambrose is still moving towards his IMO).

1992 Royal Rumble Match (WWF)

With the first of the big four coming up later this month its worth checking out what many regard as the greatest Royal Rumble match of all time from 1992.  Its the the only time in WWF/E history that the world title was awarded to the Rumble's winner.

Jon Moxley vs Brodie Lee (CZW)

Its been a long time but expect more matches and posting here soon as the blog gets revamped.  This one is Jon Moxley and Brodie Lee (or Dean Ambrose and Luke Harper if you will) for the CZW World Title at the Indie Summit in December 2011.
